Frequently Asked Questions
I am not currently experiencing any
injuries, would a Running analysis still benefit me?
A Running analysis may still benefit you in 2
ways:
1. Injury prevention:
Often, biomechanical issues will result in injury as training mileage or
intensity increases. In getting a Running analysis early in a training
program these issues can be assessed and improved before a full-fledge injury
appears.
2. Performance
improvement: Many runners find that after years of training
their performance will tend to either plateau or decrease. This is often a
result of biomechanical inefficiencies in the stride developed from muscle
imbalances (strength/flexibility issues) and/or inefficient learned movement
patterns. In analyzing the body as a whole through a Running analysis
individualized flexibility and strength programs can be developed to improve
efficiency. Runners/walkers can also receive more specific feedback on
personalized technique tips.
What should I bring with me to my
appointment?
At what point in my training season
should I get a Running analysis? When
making changes to your running/walking technique we do prefer to make these
changes at the beginning of a training program when mileage and intensity is a
little lower, however, this does not mean that you have to wait to come see us.
In many cases we find that certain stretching exercises and and soft tissue
treatments will allow a runner/walker to continue their activity with less pain
and greater efficiency right away. |
